Year 7 Jurassic Coast Updates

This is a dedicated post for all Year 7 Jurassic Coast Visit updates for 15th-19th July 2024.  You will find daily updates and images from the visit below!

Monday 15th July

12:30pm: The children have all arrived safely at Marwell Zoo

5:40pm: All children have arrived at the hostel

Tuesday 16th July

A really good day at Monkey World and Corfe Castle.

The guide at Corfe Castle said she had seen Leigh Academy Hugh Christie on the visitor list and deliberately chosen to be with our group as we are always a lovely group. The students today were also well behaved and a credit to our school.

The guide at Monkey World said how well students listened and were taking massive interest in all the stories of the animals. Again the student’s behaviour was outstanding.

Wednesday 17th July

Half way through an excellent day at the water sports.

It’s been brilliant to see the students getting fully involved and trying sports they have never done before. Canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and raft building are the activities they are doing.

Again our students are being a credit to us

Friday 19th July

Our final day in Swanage has been marvellous.

An adventurous time in the mud trail and water park was followed by quiz night and cuddly toy competition. Well done to the three toys who won and who, coincidentally, had all been in the same room all week!

The quizzes were prepared by Miss Wells and then a quiz written by the Year 13 students who had been collecting questions all week to see what the students remembered which was loads!

The final round proved entertaining as Year 7 were identifying staff and year 13 from baby photos.

Packing and tidying this morning all done efficiently and students have been excellent in getting sorted.

All in all an excellent week. Thank you to staff and students . Year 7 and 13 have been a credit to school and parents.

See you around 1 pm.

12:55pm URGENT UPDATE – One of the coaches has broken down, the students are at the service station and having cold drinks.  There is a possibility that the ETA could be later and as soon as we know we will update here.

2:20pm Update – Both coaches have now left the services and are making their way home.  We are now expecting the coaches to back at school for approx 4:30.

4:40pm Update – The new estimated time back to school is 5:45pm.  The coaches had just stopped at Cobham services to allow the students to get a drink and go to the bathroom.
