Dear Parents and Carers,
As your child approaches the end of Key Stage 3, they are reaching a significant milestone in their educational journey: choosing their GCSE and Key Stage 4 options. To ensure you and your child feel fully supported during this transition, we would like to invite you to our Year 9 Options Information Evening. This will take place on Thursday 5th March at 3pm.
What to Expect
The transition from Year 9 to Year 10 is an exciting time, but we understand it can also feel a little overwhelming. This evening is designed to provide clarity and confidence. During the session, we will cover:
- The Options Process: A step-by-step guide on how the system works and how students submit their preferences.
- Key Timelines: Important deadlines for applications and when final choices will be confirmed.
- Curriculum Pathways: An overview of the core subjects and the various elective subjects available.
- Support & Advice: Practical tips on how you can help your child weigh their interests against their future aspirations to make informed decisions.
Making the right choices now ensures that students remain engaged with their learning and keep the right doors open for post-16 education and future careers.
Students will be completing an initial interest form this week during advisory – so it would be great if you could speak to your child about their choices.
We look forward to seeing you there and working together to support your child’s next steps.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs K Harlin
