Dear Parents and Carers

Re: Read & Write Toolbar

At Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the tools they need to access the curriculum confidently and independently.

As part of our commitment to inclusive learning, we are pleased to highlight a powerful resource available to all our students: the Read&Write toolbar.

Read&Write is a digital support tool designed to assist students with reading, writing, and research. Whether your child needs help with text-to-speech, vocabulary support, or organising their thoughts for an essay, this toolbar provides a range of features to make digital content more accessible.

To help you and your child get the most out of this software, we have hosted an interactive, step-by-step guide on our website. This guide demonstrates how to use each feature effectively at home and in the classroom.

Why use the toolbar?
Text-to-Speech: Assists with processing long passages of text.
Dictation: Allows students to type with their voice to get ideas down quickly.
Prediction: Suggests words as they type to improve spelling and gramma

We encourage you to explore this page with your child to familiarise yourselves with these supportive features.

If you have any questions regarding access or require further assistance with our inclusion resources, please do not
hesitate to contact the Academy’s Inclusion team.

Thank you for your continued support in your child’s education.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Bonthron
