Leigh Academy Hugh Christie is celebrating the achievements of its Year 11 students following this year’s GCSE results, with particular pride in the commitment, perseverance and ambition demonstrated by the cohort throughout their secondary education.

This year’s results include more than 140 at Grade 6, 7, 8 and 9, with Grade 6 or above achieved in every GCSE subject, highlighting the breadth of strong attainment across the curriculum.
Among the individual successes are some excellent performances. Liza and Bode have each achieved an exceptional nine grades at 7 or above, demonstrating an impressive level of consistency across their subjects.

There were also notable achievements from Devon, who secured six grades at Grade 7 or above; Henry, with five grades at 7 or above; and Leon, who achieved four grades at 7 or above.
The Academy is particularly pleased to see students achieving highly across such a broad range of subjects, reflecting the diverse strengths and aspirations of the year group.

Principal, Palak Shah, said:
“Today is about celebrating our young people and recognising the journey each of them has taken to reach this important milestone. I am immensely proud of the Class of 2026 and, in particular, the perseverance they have shown throughout their secondary education.
Examinations are an important part of a student’s journey, but they are only one measure of success. Behind every result is a young person who has developed knowledge, skills, confidence and character, and today we celebrate all of those achievements.
I would like to congratulate every student on reaching this milestone and thank our staff and families for the important role they have played in supporting them. I hope our students take time today to recognise how much they have achieved and to look forward with confidence to what comes next.
Whether students are joining our sixth form, progressing to college, beginning an apprenticeship, entering employment or pursuing another pathway, we want every young person at Leigh Academy Hugh Christie to believe in their ability to achieve their ambitions. I wish the Class of 2026 every success and happiness in the exciting journey ahead.”

The Academy wishes all students the very best as they progress to their chosen destinations and begin the next chapter of their lives.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026 – we are incredibly proud of you.
